Consolidation happens any time a rate trades sideways or inside a selection. Generally, consolidation phases are much easier to location on bigger time frames (day by day or weekly charts) and happen when an asset is cooling off following an upward or downward development. Consolidation also seems forward of trend reversals or when desire is small.
